A BIG Thank You!!!

Thank you SO much for all your support through this!  We are defiantly feeling the prayers!  We are now into our 2nd session and it is alittle easier than the first since we know what to expect, but also more difficult because Shane is feeling more sick as the chemo sets in.  Shane is very tired and feeling flu like, but slowly regains his energy after a couple days home from the hospital.  His #'s have dropped significantly, which is very good and all the praise goes to God!

We constantly are being asked, "What can we do to help you guys?".  Well, here are a couple needs we thought of, but of course are so grateful for your company and prayers!

  • We are buying strictly organic from Fred Meyer and Marlene's Market now
  • Homemade frozen meals come in very handy on our busy days!
  • Healthy snacks to keep in the car for long days to and from Seattle
We truly cannot thank you all enough for everything you have done!  I went grocery shopping for the first time in 6 weeks yesterday because you all have kept our kitchen full of healthy food=)  Our yard looks incredible thanks to our wonderful neighbors who keep it mowed, thatched, sanded and planted in our yard=)  We are so well taken care of and are overwhelmed by how much support we have!  We love you all and are truly blessed to have you in our lives!!!

.:Week 3:.

This week was SO much better for Shane!  Staying in the hospital and getting the meds before the chemo really helped!  He had no temp or sick feeling at all!  He now can just go Tuesdays (on his weeks not staying Mon-Fri) for a couple hours.  They will just give him special meds to counter act the issues he had before and then give him the chemo.

The view again was amazing!  Bellevue this time!  We had a great time relaxing and watching TV=)

Shane gets his head shaved...

Shane started noticing his hair coming out pretty easily, so he had Jay Milsten give him a shave.  I must say he is still the most handsome man on the planet=)

1st Tuesday of Bleuomycin

Shane started his 2nd week of chemo with just spending a couple hours at Swedish sitting in a lazy boy while getting Bleuomycin (type of chemo) through an IV.  On the way home, Shane started shaking and getting a fever.  It was the sickest he has felt so far.  His Oncologist told us what to do to bring his temp down and it worked, but he didn't want to take any chances for the following Tuesday with doing the same chemo as an "out patient".  Shane would have to stay over night the following week so they could give him counter-acting meds before and monitor him after.

What we came home to=)

Rachel Bailey and Melinda Sidor surprised us with planting a garden in our backyard while we were staying at the hospital!  What a sweet gift to come home to! It is all good vegetables for Shane to eat:)  They even did all the gardening in the rain.  What amazing friends!

Thank You for the Company=)

Here are some of the visitors from this week!  Sorry we forgot to take pics with some of you!

1 Week Down....11 To Go!!!

Here is the view from Shane's room!

Whew!  This has been a long week!  Chemo began Monday around 2pm after having about 4 hours of liquids through IV's.  Shane didn't start feeling anything until Wednesday afternoon.  He was just groggy and sleepy, which the nurses said was expected to happen.  He has been taking some anti-nausea meds, so that has helped a ton.  His numbers have gone down a little, but we won't really know too much more for a couple weeks.  He comes back to Swedish Tuesday for blood work and a one-day-treatment of chemo.  The following Tuesday, same thing, but we will find out more numbers.  We are home now and laying low for the weekend so Shane can rest up=)

Fun Dinners before Chemo begins....

Kent and Rachel Bailey had us over for a great dinner the week before chemo.  Shane got the special plate!

Shane and I went to Primo Grill the night before treatment started!
